Huawei Tron Is Yet Another Android Powered Microconsole

If OUYA and its million clones weren't enough already, Huawei too is getting into the scene of microconsoles. That's right, one of China's most popular phone makers has launched their very own gaming console based on Android OS (4.2 Jelly Bean). It does have a cool name though, Tron.

Unlike OUYA, Tron's belly has plenty of horsepower to churn out consistent frame rates across every Android game title available. NVIDIA's Tegra 4 SoC, 2 GB RAM, 16 or 32 GB storage, WiFi, USB 3.0, Ethernet make it to the spec sheet. Also, Tron's controller looks very similar to the Xbox 360 controller, except that it is not the Xbox 360 controller. Huawei's store would list games which are optimized for Tron. However, since this is Android we are talking about, side-loading apps and games should be easy as pie. Also, 4K playback is supported, thanks to Tegra 4's decoder.

Huawei's first game console will go on sale in China (only) in Q2 2014 for roughly $150.
